Owning a vehicle in Dubai, a headache which goes on and on!!!

Inhabitants of Dubai must have been aware (or force to) about the importance of owning a vehicle, not only essential for day to day life vehicle is also become a symbol of social status.

First step in getting a vehicle is to have a driving license, registered yourself in one of driving institute and straight away you will get a three month waiting. lolz… During these months you will definitely curse the taxi drivers, public transport system and by going late to the office you will get the same medicine from your admin as well.

Once you have your driving classes started and if you are lucky enough to have instructor with good attitude you will enjoy your classes' otherwise French connection. Once you clear the internal parking and assessment test all is set for the big challenge the 'road test'.

I think clearing road test is about 50% luck and 50% confidence, if you drove vehicle confidently and without any stupid mistake then you have a good chance of clearing it. But I have few peoples who are expert drivers but still thy got license in fifth-sixth attempt.

After getting the driving license, you will have different challenges all together, getting your vehicle loan approved, submitting all sorts of documents and continuous follow-ups. Ahhh

Don’t forget the fears like parking availability, toll taxes, fines and traffic jams, though I have not experience this yet, but have seen people suffering from these.

I love Dubai but I think there is big need for improving the transport system and policies, hope metro completion will be a leap forward but nothing can be said in advance.

Enjoy commuting ..
